Mandatory E&O Insurance (Alaska)
Under AS 08.88.172 and 12 AAC 64.600, every Alaska broker, associate broker, and salesperson must carry and maintain errors and omissions insurance as a condition of licensing, renewal, and reinstatement. A licensee may buy the Commission's master policy or certify equivalent coverage. Failing to carry E&O is a statutory ground for discipline, and unpaid premiums can lead to suspension.
- Exam tip
- E&O is not optional for part-timers in Alaska: the requirement attaches to the license itself, at licensing, renewal, and reinstatement.
- Example
- A part-time salesperson lets her E&O lapse because she closes few deals. Her license is now subject to discipline until she buys the master policy or equivalent coverage.
