Qualifying Broker (Alabama)
The Alabama broker under whom a company is licensed and who supervises the company and its licensees. The qualifying broker must be licensed in Alabama, have brokerage as a principal business, and be able to supervise full time, and is responsible to the Commission and the public for licensees' acts. Any other broker is an associate broker. If a qualifying broker dies or becomes disabled, the company has 30 days to name a temporary qualifying broker and may operate that way for up to six months.
- Exam tip
- Know the 30 days / one year / six months trio for succession, and that qualifying multiple companies requires written consent, filing with the Commission, and the same address.
- Example
- A qualifying broker dies February 2. On February 20 the company names a salesperson with three years of licensure as temporary qualifying broker, which satisfies the rule.
