DC Real Estate Guaranty and Education Fund
A fund under D.C. Code §§42-1706 to 42-1707 that pays consumers holding an unpaid final DC court judgment against a licensee for fraud, misrepresentation, deceit, embezzlement, conversion of trust funds, or a licensing law violation, and that also funds licensee education. Claimants must apply within 12 months after the judgment becomes final and notify the Mayor within 30 days of filing suit. It pays only actual, direct loss, up to $50,000 per judgment and $50,000 per transaction. The licensee is suspended until repayment with interest.
- Exam tip
