Indiana Real Estate Commission and IPLA

Indiana splits regulation between two bodies. The Indiana Real Estate Commission (IC 25-34.1-2-1) is the policy and disciplinary board that writes the rules in 876 IAC, approves courses, prescribes forms such as the seller's disclosure, and decides discipline. The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) processes applications and issues and renews licenses. The Commission has twelve governor-appointed members: nine congressional district members, one real estate member at large, and two citizen members never in the business except as consumers.

Exam tip
'The Commission decides, IPLA processes.' Remember 9 + 1 + 2 = 12; broker members need five years of experience.
Example
A broker ignores the Attorney General's request for a written response and trust account summary during an investigation. That refusal is itself a rule violation.
