Referral Agent (New Jersey)
A New Jersey license category for a licensed salesperson who works only under a broker's referral company. A referral agent may only refer prospects to the broker, or to other licensees through the broker, and must not list, show, negotiate or advertise property. All advertising other than business cards must state that services are limited to referring prospects to a broker. A referral agent may not prepare a comparative market analysis.
- Exam tip
- Referral agents refer only; showing a house, negotiating or preparing a CMA is outside the role.
- Example
- A part-time referral agent learns a neighbor wants to sell; she passes the lead to her broker's company, but does not take the listing or show the home.
