Arizona Homestead Exemption

Under A.R.S. 33-1101, Arizona protects a homeowner's equity from most judgment creditors up to $400,000 since Proposition 209 (2022), adjusted annually for inflation beginning January 1, 2024. It covers a house and land, one condo or co-op unit, or a manufactured home and land, and the owner must live there. It is automatic, one per person or married couple, and sale proceeds stay exempt for 18 months. It does not protect against mortgages, property tax liens, or mechanics' liens for work on the home.

Example
