bundle of rights

The bundle of rights is the traditional way of describing real property ownership as a collection of separate legal rights that come with owning land. The main rights are often remembered as possession, control, enjoyment, exclusion, and disposition. An owner can keep the whole bundle or transfer individual rights to others, such as leasing possession to a tenant or selling mineral rights, while still holding the remaining rights.

Exam tip
