DC Real Estate Commission (Board of Real Estate)
The District of Columbia regulator, called the Board of Real Estate in D.C. Code §47-2853.06 and DCREC by DLCP and the exam. It licenses brokers, salespersons, and property managers. Its nine members are three brokers, two salespersons, two property managers, one DC real estate attorney, and one consumer member, appointed by the Mayor with Council consent to three-year terms. Professional members need five years of active practice and one year of DC residency before appointment.
- Exam tip
- '3-2-2-1-1, five years in, one year home.' Members are appointed by the Mayor with Council consent; the Board and licensees do not elect them.
- Example
- A DC salesperson with four years of practice and six years of residency is nominated to the Board. She is not yet eligible, because five years of practice are required.
