front foot

A front foot is a measure of a parcel's width along the street, waterfront, or other key boundary. Some properties, such as commercial lots or lakefront parcels, are priced per front foot, and special assessments are often charged this way. In a lot description, the first dimension usually listed is the frontage. For example, a lot described as 75 by 150 has 75 front feet.

Exam tip
The first number in lot dimensions is normally the frontage. Multiply front feet by the per-foot price; ignore depth unless the question asks for area.
Example
A 60 x 120 lakefront lot priced at $1,500 per front foot costs 60 x $1,500 = $90,000.
