Louisiana Real Estate Commission (LREC)

The agency, domiciled in Baton Rouge, that licenses and regulates Louisiana real estate licensees. It has eleven members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate, with seven seats tied to the supreme court districts. Members serve four-year terms, no more than two consecutive, and must have at least five years as active brokers. Six members are a quorum. The LREC also writes the agency disclosure pamphlet and property disclosure document.

Exam tip
Remember 'eleven seats, four years, six to vote'. Commission size and quorum questions often offer other states' numbers as distractors.
Example
A licensee is accused of undisclosed dual agency; the LREC can hold a hearing and discipline the license under R.S. 37:1455.
