Temporary License and Post-License Course (Mississippi)
A new Mississippi licensee receives a temporary license, not a permanent one, after passing the exam. It costs the same as a permanent license and is valid for one year counted from the first day of the month after issuance (§73-35-14.5). The 30-hour post-license course, including at least 24 hours of core subjects for salespersons, must be completed within 12 months; otherwise MREC automatically places the temporary license on inactive status. Temporary licenses cannot be renewed.
- Exam tip
- Know that the temporary license runs one year from the first of the month after issuance and cannot be renewed.
- Example
- A salesperson's temporary license is issued March 15, 2026, so its one-year term is counted from April 1, 2026; she must finish post-license education in time to receive a permanent license.
