Nebraska State Real Estate Commission (NREC)
The Nebraska licensing body created by Neb. Rev. Stat. 81-885.07. It has seven members: the Secretary of State, who serves as chairperson, and six appointed by the Governor. The appointees are three brokers, one from each congressional district, with at least five years' experience, plus three at-large members: a public member, a salesperson with at least three years' experience and a broker with at least five. It administers the License Act and the agency statutes (76-2401 to 76-2430). Civil fines go to the state school fund.
- Exam tip
- The Secretary of State chairs the Commission ex officio. A hearing requires at least 20 days' notice.
- Example
- NREC mails a complaint and hearing notice on March 1 for a March 15 hearing; the notice is too short because at least 20 days is required.
