Nevada Real Estate Division (NRED) and Commission

Nevada splits regulation between two bodies. The Real Estate Division, led by an Administrator, is the state agency that processes applications, issues and renews licenses, keeps records, investigates complaints, audits trust accounts and publishes required forms. The Real Estate Commission is the policy and hearing body: it adopts the NAC Chapter 645 regulations, sets education standards, approves courses and hears disciplinary cases. The Commission has five members appointed by the Governor, each with broker-level experience.

Exam tip
'Division does, Commission decides': issuing licenses or auditing trust accounts is the Division; adopting regulations or fining after a hearing is the Commission.
Example
A broker moves his office and reports the change of address; that filing goes to the Division, while a later fine for a trust violation would come from the Commission after a hearing.
